On 29 January, I attended a breakfast meeting of the Mudgeeraba Chamber of Commerce to talk shop with local businesspeople and hear about how their businesses are performing in 2016. It was great to catch up with John Forrester, President of the Mudgeeraba Chamber, and hear from guest speaker Warren von Bibra.Unfortunately, since I last updated you, Queensland continues to be held back by the Labor Government. This has been confirmed in a recent CommSec State of the States Report, which showed Queensland was part of a 'third tier' of economies and had fallen further behind on important indicators like economic growth, equipment investment and construction work.
Queensland is not even in the middle of the pack in fact, we're grouped at the bottom alongside South Australia and Tasmania. This has real consequences for businesses in our area, especially since the Labor Government still hasn't presented any plans for boosting economic growth or investing in vital infrastructure in our area.Whilst this is discouraging news, I have been continuing to talk to local businesspeople about the LNP's Real Economic Plan and how we can make it easier to do business in Queensland.
With Parliament set to resume later this month, I am sure economic and business issues will remain an important issue. I look forward to updating you again next month. In the meantime, if I can be of any assistance to your business, please do not hesitate to give me a call on (07) 5601 7100 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
