Gold Coast Central Chamber of Commerce
Light Rail Preparation and Impact Survey
Light Rail Stage 3
Engaging local business to understand their concerns
The Gold Coast Central Chamber of Commerce is playing an active role in the engagement with the light rail project, the Department of Transport and Main Roads, and the project's delivery organisation GoldlinQ. Based on current planning and timelines communicated by GoldlinQ, major construction will commence for the light rail stage 3A extension from Broadbeach to Burleigh Heads in early 2021.
As a trusted advocate for business on the Gold Coast the Central Chamber is actively participating in the established Light Rail Business Advisory Group and through this forum can directly convey the concerns of businesses along the construction corridor to the project group. Whilst the impacts of COVID-19 are being felt across many business sectors Government is progressing planning for Stage 3 light rail construction to ensure that employment opportunities, local procurement, and local supply chains for this large infrastructure project, help facilitate economic growth longer term post COVID-19.
The Chamber has created a short survey to enable us to consolidate possible concerns regarding the future construction impacts and ensure these are communicated to the project. Your feedback may assist the delivery contractor's development of innovative construction methodologies, stakeholder engagement processes, and business support strategies to help mitigate likely impacts where possible.
Your participation in this short five-minute survey is an important step of facilitating the Chamber's engagement with the light rail project to support members and non-members alike in getting through the difficult period of construction that these large and important infrastructure project can bring.
