Aitken Legal Education Session - Social Media and How to Protect Your Business

Tuesday 31 March 2020
7.45am arrival for 8.00am start to 9.00am finish

Presenter: Angela Engel

With almost 9 in 10 people with a social media profile in Australia, it is necessary for employers to be aware of ways to protect their business brand and minimise their risks with respect to the misuse of social media platforms, both during and outside of work hours.

There have been a number of recent cases in relation to inappropriate social media usage in the workplace. Clients also frequently talk to Aitken Legal's employment lawyers about the best ways to deal with social media issues.

This seminar will look at:

  • The legal risks associated with social media;
  • Lessons that can be learned from the cases; and
  • Steps employers can take to protect themselves against the misuse of social media.

Presenter: Angela Engel, Special Counsel

She has successfully assisted many Gold Coast business owners with employment law matters from diverse industries including manufacturing, finance, legal, community, medical, retail, education and construction.   Additionally, Angela has strong workplace investigations skills, which are regularly called upon to assist employers in private business and local government employers to understand and solve complex workplace complaints and ultimately avoid further legal disputes.  Angela frequently presents to professional groups such as business owners, accountants and business coaches and thoroughly enjoys networking with Gold Coast business owners and other professionals.
